Celebrating apprentices in the water industry

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2026, we’re highlighting the vital role apprentices play across the water sector.

Every year, water companies offer a wide range of apprenticeships, with roles available at different levels and across every region of the UK. From engineering, human resources, data science and more, there are many pathways for people looking to start or develop a career in the industry.

The Government and the water industry will recruit 50,000 people into the water sector by 2030 to deliver record investment. This includes 5,000 apprentices over the next five years, representing a 25% increase.

In this blog, we will hear directly from apprentices working across the water industry as they share their experiences and advice to others considering an apprenticeship. To explore apprenticeship opportunities in your area, please contact your local company.
