Water UK has responded to WWF's 'Flushed Away' report.

Water and sewerage bills will fall after April 2015 and even more help will be available for customers struggling with cost of living pressures.

The latest results for compliance to the European Bathing Water Directive by UK coastal and inland bathing waters show that:
• 95.4% of UK bathing waters met the minimum standard - that is 595 out of 624 bathing waters
• 60% of bathing waters met the Directive’s excellent standard

Water companies in England and Wales will invest more than £8 billion in 2019-20. The investment comes in the fifth year of a £44 billion spending commitment from 2015 to 2020.

The average household water and sewerage bill in England and Wales for 2017-18 will be £395 – an increase of £6 (2%) compared with the previous year. The average bills for each company can be found on the Discover Water website, which brings together key information for customers about water companies in England and Wales.

On Wednesday 14 October 2015 the National Audit Office published its review of regulation and the water industry. The water industry has worked closely with the NAO over many months and provided a range of figures and information to assist their review of regulation in the sector.
