How to be water wise
The water industry funds Waterwise, an organisation set up to help us all use the water we need without wasting water we don't need.
Advice from Waterwise
Waterwise has put the focus on being water efficient, so we only use the water we need and take steps to cut down water waste.
For example, toilet flushing accounts for around 30% of the water we use. A modern dual-flush toilet uses 9 litres a flush less water than an older-style toilet. With 45 million toilets in the UK, changing to low-flush loos or reducing water use in older toilets makes a huge saving.
And that's just the start. If you have a water meter, every drop you save cuts down your bill, so becoming water efficient also saves you money.
